Ken Forsberg was born and raised in the Bronx, the oldest of four children. He graduated from Lehman High School in June 1977. He served in the United States Navy from November 1977 to November 1983.

Ken was initiated into Local 3 in October 1984. Over the past 30 years, he has worked as a journeyman and a sub-foreman for many different contractors in every borough of the city, doing everything from new construction to subways. He was a shop steward for retired Business Representative Lou Sciara at JFK airport, for retired Business Representative Mike O’Neil in the subways and for retired Business Representative Elliot Hecht when he had the honor of representing the members of Local 3 at Tower 1 World Trade Center site for six years.

Ken has taken many of the courses and certifications available to the members through the Educational and Cultural Trust Fund. He has been an active member of the Sportsmen’s Club for over 25 years, during which time he held the positions of Sergeant at Arms, Vice President and President. He is a MIJ Boot Camp mentor, a member of the Apprentice Mentoring Program, a Labor Day parade captain and a member of the Wage and Policy Committee.

Ken lives in the Bronx and has been happily married for 33 years to his wife, Tonja. They have three sons, Justin and Ryan, who are “A” journeymen, and Tyler, who is looking to follow in the family footsteps.
