A Message from Business Manager Chris Erikson
On behalf of the Officers of Local 3 and Congressman Tom Suozzi, I want to thank the members who supported his candidacy for Governor in the Democratic Primary in New York State. It was a light turnout election and despite our best efforts on his behalf, Governor Kathy Hochul prevailed. We will move forward with our heads held high and do everything we can to ensure she beats the Republican challenger in the general election this November. Local 3 has endorsed Gov. Hochul and will work hard on her campaign. Lee Zeldin has aligned himself with Trump’s policies, and like Trump, despite his rhetoric, he could care less about your economic interests.
I want to congratulate our members who were recognized at the annual Service Awards Luncheon held on June 27th. Members with 50, 60, 70 and even one with 80 years of membership in Local 3 were honored. It was a proud day for all of us in attendance.
The Long Island Educational Center in Cutchogue is hosting the critical thinking seminars on the weekends and the retiree clubs during the week as well. You should make every effort to attend. The summer sessions at Camp Integrity are underway, and many clubs have events scheduled throughout the summer. While members are still testing positive for Covid, be careful and enjoy the summer. Be safe!
