It's been a busy few months. Last month, I talked about our successful negotiation of a new three-year agreement with numerous wage and benefit adjustments. This month, myself and your elected delegates represented the members of Local 3 at the IBEW's 40th International Convention in Chicago. This was a critical Convention where the business of the IBEW was front and center. We elected the officers of the IBEW for another five-year term, amended the constitution of the IBEW to address the per capita and PBF contributions and benefit levels, and passed dozens of resolutions that will guide the direction of the IBEW until the next Convention in 2026. History was made as well, as it was the first time in the IBEW's history that a sitting president addressed the delegates at the Convention when President Biden showed up and reiterated not only his hand-in-hand support of the Labor Movement but the IBEW specifically. President Biden knows he wouldn't have been elected without the support of the IBEW, and I don't want to think about where we would be right now if we didn't get Biden elected. The next issue of the Union World will have many more details on the work of the Convention.
Additionally, I had the honor of being reelected by the delegates to the office of Chairman of the International Executive Council. It continues to be my privilege to serve not just the members of Local 3, but all of the IBEW, and I couldn't do it without the support of you, the members of Local 3, to allow me to continue to serve in this role. Thank you. It was an extra special moment for me when my two sons, Chris and Rob, gave my nominating speech as well.
Take a minute to listen to my speech from that day. We need to be laser-focused and continue to move the IBEW forward because this window of opportunity that's ahead of us will not last forever.
