Raymond Melville is the Senior Assistant Business Manager
Mr. Melville holds an Associate’s Degree from the Harry Van Arsdale Jr. Labor College (SUNY).
Mr. Melville enlisted in the United States Marine Corp for four (4) years. He served thirteen months in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and two Presidential Unit Citations.
Upon his return from military service Raymond Melville was then initiated into Local Union #3 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in January 1970, a second generation member of Local Union #3. After completing the Apprentice Training Program, he attained Journeyperson status in 1978 and worked in the industry as a foreman before becoming a Business Representative in 1980. Mr. Melville was licensed to represent members at the Workers Compensation Board in New York State. In 1987 he became Business Representative for Construction in the borough of Queens and in April 1994 became Assistant Business Manager for Construction in New York City, and in 2003 Westchester and Fairfield Conn.
Mr. Melville is currently a Trustee to the Joint Industry Board, Legal Service Plan, Education & Cultural Fund, Annuity Plan, Pension Plan, Finance Committee, Deferred Salary Plan, Employment Committee and Dental Benefit Fund. He is also a member of the Joint Apprenticeship Committee, American Arbitration Association and Selective Service Board. He has served on the Chairman & Advisory Committee of the Recodification of the Law Project of the Workers Compensation Board and a member of the New York City Electrical Code Advisory Committee. Mr. Melville has also served as Sergeant at Arms at the I.B.E.W 35th, 36th & 37th Convention.
He has received numerous awards from various Club Organizations consisting of St. George Association, Electrical Welfare, Lewis H. Latimer Association, Santiago Inglesias Education Society, Construction Industry “97” Good Scout Award, State of Israel Bonds 50th Anniversary Medal and Conspicuous Service Award by the Governor of New York State, Greek Orthodox Council, Catholic Council, Boy Scouts of America, Ellis Island Medal of Honor and Robert Kennedy Democratic Club.
