Manufacturing Division

Isaac Merlos was appointed Business Representative of the Manufacturing Division at the General Membership meeting on April 11, 2024. Isaac’s appointment went into effect upon the retirement of Business Representative Anthony Esponda.

Isaac, the oldest of three children, grew up in Plainview, New York, and attended Bethpage public schools. In 2007, he graduated from Bethpage High School with an advanced Regents diploma and enrolled at Nassau Community College.

In 2008, Isaac began his career at Apogee Lighting, where he was introduced to the Local 3, IBEW Manufacturing Division. He started as a helper but quickly advanced to positions such as assembler, fabricator, driver, lead person, and lead field service. In 2014, he was appointed shop steward and served until March 2024.

Throughout his career with Local 3, Isaac has participated in the 419 Spartan Club, Young Workers Committee, Organizing Committee, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and Wage and Policy Committee. He has attended several conferences, including the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus (EWMC), the Broadcast, Manufacturing, Telecom Branch (BMT), and Membership Development. In addition, he has volunteered for phone banks and canvassed for candidates endorsed by Local 3.
