The Executive Board of Local 3 has elected Francis Gonsalves to the Examining Board to fulfill the unexpired term of George White, who is serving in his full capacity as the Associate Apprenticeship Director. Francis was sworn in by Business Manager Christopher Erikson at the General Membership meeting on December 14th, 2023.
Francis Gonsalves was born in Georgetown, Guyana, in 1977, and he graduated from Thomas Edison Career and Technical Education High School in Queens, New York, in 1995.
Francis entered the Local 3 Apprenticeship Program in 1998. As an active member during his apprenticeship, he served on the Apprentice Advisory Committee. In 2003, he received his ‘A’ journeyman card.
Over the years he has taken several courses offered by the Educational & Cultural Trust Fund, including but not limited to the following: OSHA 10, OSHA 30, Lock Out/Tag Out, Confined Space, MTA Track Safety, and Diversity Training. Francis became an instructor for the Educational & Cultural Trust Fund, teaching Conduit Bending and Citizen Responsibility. Francis worked as a High Voltage Tester and a Shop Steward reporting to Business Representatives Benjamin Arana and William Hofving and retired Business Representatives Ken Forsberg and Elliot Hecht.
Francis is an active member of the Bedsole Kingsboro Club, where he has served in various positions. He is currently the Club’s Vice President and the softball team Manager. He also is the Vice President of the Futurian Society of Local 3.
Currently, Francis is the Interim Chief Electrician for the Barclays Center.
Francis is married to his wife of 8 years, Roshonda.
