Derek Jordan represents DBM and DH Division members employed in the cable television industry by Business Manager Christopher Erikson.
A first-generation member, Derek was initiated into Local 3, IBEW in 1986. He was born in Brooklyn, attended Holy Family Grammar School and graduated from South Shore High School in 1982. He went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1982 to 1988.
Derek entered the electrical industry in 1986 when he was hired by Manhattan Cable TV, which is now Time Warner Cable. His career began as an installer, and he progressed to become a service technician. In 1992 he became a journeyman for CATV and was assigned responsibilities as a lead man in the company’s construction department. He became a Local 3 Committeeman in 1992 and assisted in negotiating contracts between Local 3, IBEW and Time Warner Cable. He became a shop steward in 1995. In May 2004 he became a construction foreman for Time Warner.
Derek remained active on the Local 3 Committee and in 2005 assisted in the organization of Time Warner of Bergen County, NJ. In December 2006 he became chairman of the ET Division of Local 3.
Derek is the Club Advisor to the Veterans Club of Local 3, IBEW and also represents Local 3 on the IBEW 3rd District Veterans Committee.
