At the November 2012 General Membership meeting, Business Manager Christopher Erikson, with the approval of the membership, appointed Anthony Agnello to replace retiring Business Representative Robert Nichols. Anthony was employed by ADT at the time of his appointment.
Anthony is a third-generation trade unionist. His father was a steward and chairman of Local 1212, IBEW and his grandfather was an organizer of workers at the Continental Can Company in New Jersey. An 18-year employee in the alarm industry, he has been a member of Local 3 for 22 years. He has served as a shop steward and as the chairman of the “H” Division Negotiations Committee.
Active throughout his membership, he has participated in numerous labor walks, demonstrations, parades, telephone banks and in the organizing of alarm workers in New Jersey. He assisted in developing training programs for the New Jersey State Burglar and Fire Alarm license.
Anthony is a member of the Staten Island Electrical Club, the Bedsole-Kingsboro Club and the Christopher Columbus Committee. In 2018 he was honored as “Man of the Year” at the Staten Island Electrical Club’s annual picnic.
Since 2017 Anthony has been the chairman of the ADT/TYCO Coordinating Council ACC-1 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, composed of the IBEW local unions in the USA and Canada with members employed by ADT, TYCO and JCI. The council meets twice annually and has additional meetings as needed.
Anthony and his wife, Francine, have two children, Samantha and Morgan.
