Supply, Hotel, and EILIEC Employees
Anette Diaz was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, to Elba and Juan Diaz. She is one of 15 siblings. At the age of five, her family moved to New York City. Anette attended and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn.
Anette was brought into Local 3, IBEW by her brother, Eddie, who was employed by Hallmark Electric Supply Co. for 24 years. Anette was initiated into Local 3 in 1987 and started her first union job with Hallmark Electric Supply working in the billing department. In 1993, she joined Midtown Electric Supply in the Lighting Department, where she began in billing and transitioned to sales, project management, purchasing and Lighting Manager.
In 1997 Anette became an Assistant Shop Steward, and by 2005 she was a Shop Steward. In an effort to help others become more aware of what the union had to offer, she joined the Local 3 Advisory Board for the Supply Division, and in 2007 she went on to become its chairwoman. Anette was also a member of the Union Committee, where she helped members with their grievances and was instrumental in negotiating the 2008-2011 contracts for the Supply Division. Currently, she is a member of the Local 3 Election Board and serves on the Joint Labor Management Grievance Committee and the Employees Security Fund of the Electrical Products Industry. She was an alternate delegate to the 38th IBEW Convention in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 2011.
On September 10, 2009, Anette was appointed Business Representative of the Supply Division and Hotel Telephone Operator by Business Manager Christopher Erikson. She is currently working under Assistant Business Manager of Manufacturing, Christopher Erikson Jr., and represents 54 companies in the Supply Division. She is also working under Assistant Business Manager of the Maintenance Division, Lance Van Arsdale, and represents all hotels in New York City. In November 2013 she was given the task to represent all EILIEC employees.
Always looking to further her education, Anette is currently attending Cornell University. She is an Advisor to the 419 Spartan Club, a Trustee of the Santiago Iglesias Educational Society and a Trustee of the Amber Light Society. She is on the Board of Trustees for the Employees Security Pension, the Educational and Cultural Trust Fund and the Health and Welfare Fund, and she is a member of the Electrical Workers Minority Caucus.
Anette is the proud mother of two sons, Luis and Johnny. In her spare time, Anette enjoys dancing, tennis and attending baseball games.
