This Friday, February 7th, marks a momentous occasion for Local Union No. 3, as we celebrate the 125th anniversary of our Union’s affiliation with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). That’s 125 consecutive years of history and progress with the largest labor union in the electrical industry. This week, as always, carry your union cards with pride, brothers and sisters!

For a full telling of Local 3, IBEW’s history – originating as Local Assembly 5468 of the Knights of Labor in the 1880s, then affiliating with the IBEW on February 7, 1900, and organizing the largest local union in the American labor movement during the century that followed – watch this video, “I Am My Brothers’ Keeper,” that was produced to commemorate the centennial anniversary.

This year, Local 3 will host a special celebration on Saturday, June 14th, at the Javits Center in Manhattan. More details will be coming in the weeks and months ahead.
