Parade

Thousands of union members took over Fifth Avenue in midtown Manhattan to show their union pride in the 2024 NYC Labor Day Parade on Saturday, September 7th. It was a spectacular sight to see union-made banners, flags, hats, t-shirts, vehicles, and floats as far as the eye could see on the parade route between 44th Street and the grandstand at 64th Street. As always, Local 3 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers showed up with the parade’s largest presence as the rear guard of the building trades’ contingent led by this year’s Grand Marshal, John J. Murphy, International Representative of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA).

Thank you to everyone – from union members, family, and friends to coworkers, affiliated clubs, elected officials, and allies in the labor movement – who joined the NYC Labor Day Parade, the Labor Mass and banner procession at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and with Local 3 on West 46th Street and along Fifth Avenue. Images and videos of Local 3 and others at the Parade are available to view and share online on Local 3’s FlickrFacebook, and Instagram, and more will be featured in the next issue of The Electrical Union World newspaper.

By continuing this tradition of the oldest and largest Labor Day Parade in the nation and showing up in big numbers, together we proved that we are union strong and we aren’t going anywhere!
