Union electricians are on the frontlines of climate change! With the assistance of the Workforce Development Institute (WDI), members of Local 3, IBEW have begun training at TMI Waterfront Services on Staten Island. This is New York State's first training facility certified by the industry-standard Global Wind Organisation (GWO).
The Basic Safety Training - Offshore is a week-long, five-module course required for all personnel working on offshore wind turbines. So far, five members of Local 3 have already completed their certifications and more are on their way.
