The Lewis Howard Latimer Progressive Association (LHLPA) welcomed members of Local 3’s Executive Board to speak at the monthly club meeting on Tuesday, March 21 and to install LHLPA’s next term of officers. Paul Mosely, General Superintendent of Five Star Electric and Chair of the Local 3 Diversity & Inclusion Committee, also played a role in drawing a large crowd in attendance.
A long-time member of LHLPA, brother Mosely felt it was important to create more unity among our African-American brothers and sisters, especially those in supervision, so the Local 3 Diversity & Inclusion Committee put out a call to invite all African-American forepersons and superintendents to the Latimer meeting, which was answered with a resounding response. There were over 30 brothers and sisters in supervision who attended the meeting, in addition to many members who regularly attend the meeting held on the second Tuesday of every month in the Joint Board Balcony Lounge. The LHLPA plans to keep the momentum going and looks forward to welcoming new faces to their upcoming scholarship dinner on April 29, future club meetings, and events.
