Over 200 apprentices attended an offshore wind seminar hosted by Climate Jobs NY and Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) at the Electrical Industry Training Center in Long Island City, on July 20. The seminar was a part of Cornell ILR’s Labor Leading on Climate Initiative, which puts the focus on workers and unions in addressing the dual crises of climate change and inequality.
Apprentices learned about the environmental and economic impacts of climate change, New York State’s clean energy goals, and how offshore wind will help achieve them. It is our mission to have Local 3 and our sister locals in the IBEW train and represent the workforce in this growing industry in the near future.
