The National Training Alliance sponsored it's 30th National Training Institute at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor last week. Over 2,100 IBEW instructors from across the U.S. and Canada participated in the week-long training sessions, including the Training Directors and 23 instructors from Local 3. JATC instructor Adam Fishman completed his fourth year and graduated the program, and he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Advanced Studies Program. These men and women represent some of the best instructors in the world. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their service and commitment to the future of the IBEW.
The IBEW is and always has been a leader in Apprentice Training. Our programs and those of all the Building Trades unions are under attack by Trump's Department of Labor. They want to undermine our high standards by allowing and encouraging substandard programs for our non-union competition - self-certified and overseen by those very same non-union employers and trade associations. Just one more way union members cut their own throats by voting for Trump. The list is long but in particular, his appointments have been horrible for unions, their members, and their families. It baffles my mind that union members voted against their own economic interests for a president that wants to destroy the organization that provides for you and your family every day. Pay attention sisters and brothers and remember how impactful your vote really is.
