On Saturday, November 19, 2016, in recognition of Thanksgiving and Harry Van Arsdale Jr‰Ûªs birthday, members of the ‰ÛÏJ‰Û division delivered a truck filled with non-perishable food items to St. Benedict‰Ûªs Church in the Bronx. The ‰ÛÏJ‰Û division members along with Business Representative Richard Duva and Chairman Gregory Farrell were greeted by Father Robinson Olivares and school principle Ray Vitiello who were quite touched by the outpouring of support from our members. Our brothers and sisters were very generous with donations which ended up filling up the storage closet at the church and spilling over into the adjoining room. Many disadvantaged families in the area will receive the much-needed food and supplies to help them celebrate the holidays. Charitable events such as this is a reminder of the teachings of Brother Harry Van Arsdale, Jr., who was a firm believer in doing everything you can to give back and to ‰ÛÏhelp those less fortunate.‰Û This belief has been and will continue to be passed on to all of our Local 3 brothers and sisters through efforts such as these. ‰ÛÏJ‰Û division Chairman Gregory Farrell was very proud of the members of Local 3‰Ûªs street lighting and maintenance division for giving back to the community in which they work and thanked them all for their generous donations and their selflessness. The local press had heard about this event and had sent a reporter to take photographs and interview some that were on hand. The story appeared in The Bronx Times.
