Members of the Lewis Howard Latimer Progressive Association who distributed meals at the West Harlem Residences.
As the holidays approach, many families struggle to afford housing around the city and struggle to put food on the table. With the generosity of the L. K. Comstock, John Cunningham Jr., and the Latimer officers and members, they were able to provide 48 Thanksgiving dinner baskets to the families of the West Harlem Residence.
Each family received a 15-20 lb. turkey and a basket of trimmings. Each basket contained mashed potatoes, corn bread, stuffing, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce and macaroni and cheese.
On Saturday, November 19, 2016, the Lewis Howard Latimer Progressive Association visited the West Harlem Residence Family Shelter to distribute Thanksgiving baskets. There were over 30 volunteers which included Business Representatives Rick Rollins and Derek Jordan, Examining Board member å_William G. Riley Sr., and Assistant Employment Director Joseph Hester.
Social Service Supervisor of the West Harlem Residence Family Shelter Detrain Wisdom greeted the volunteers and thanked everyone for their time and donations.
As the residents of the family shelter arrived, Chairman/LHLPA 1st Vice President Will Smith, Co-Chairwoman/LHLPA Corresponding Secretary Brownette Cooke and the volunteers greeted them. The residents were very grateful and thanked the volunteers and Local 3 for the ability to feed their families with a Thanksgiving meal.
