NYBC Declares Blood Emergency

The New York Blood Center has officially declared a blood emergency as their supply for patients in need is critically low. Please donate if you are able to and healthy.

NYBC encourages people with all blood types, especially O-negative (universal donor) and B-negative, to schedule an appointment at a donor center or upcoming event. For hospitals treating patients with COVID-19, the Blood Center encourages adults who have tested positive and recovered to donate because the antibodies in their blood (convalescent plasma) could help until the discovery of a vaccine or better treatment.
