Walter Ineson
Former Local 3 Business Representative Walter Ineson passed away on May 11, 2017. A U.S. Navy Veteran during World War II. Ineson served four years in the submarine service as a Radio Man 2nd class in the southwest Pacific.
He entered Local 3 as an “A” apprentice in 1947 and received his “A” journeyman’s card in 1952.
After working as a journeyman for 5 years, Ineson assumed the responsibilities of foreman on electrical construction jobs in New York City for Hatzel & Buehler, Lord Electric and T.F. Jackson.
He was also employed as an area foreman for the World’s Fair Maintenance Co. in 1964-65. He was shop steward on the Bankers Trust and Exxon buildings in Manhattan. His last position prior to his appointment to
Local 3’s staff was that of shop steward on the 21 building complex known as Rockefeller Center.
He completed courses at the Metropolitan Evening Trade School for industrial electronics.
Always a community conscious trade unionist, Ineson took a special course on Alchoholism given to labor ‰ÛÒ management committees by the National Council on Alcoholism at the Alcoholism Recovery Institute in Manhattan.
Always active in the union, he served on the Wage and Policy Committee; Pension Committee; Finance Committee; Joint Apprentice Committee and was a member of the Joint Industry Board of the Electrical Industry.
Ineson had been recognized on numerous occasions for his outstanding representation of electrical workers by the Colony Club, Bronx Acorn Electrical Club, Santiago Inglesias Educational Society, Staten Island Electrical Club, St. George Society as well as by the State of Israel Bond organization.
Walter is survived by his son Richard Ineson a retired Local 3 electrician and daughter Gail Ineson, grandchildren Brittany & Barbara Ineson. Local 3’s officers and staff send our heartfelt condolences to the entire Ineson family.
