’Tis the season for lights, gifts, and cheer! Local 3 members are doing their part to spread the holiday cheer with Christmas tree lightings, decorations, and toy drives.
Electchester and Harry’s Rock were decorated by Local 3 Affiliated Clubs and apprentices volunteering on the morning of Saturday, December 3, in preparation for the Electchester Tree Lighting on Sunday, December 18. Local 3 members and apprentices were also on hand to assist the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church’s lighting ceremony on the evening of Friday, December 9. On the same night at the Electrical Industry Center Auditorium, the Apprentice Committee held a toy drive in collaboration with Churches United for Fair Housing (CUFFH). In what has quickly become an annual tradition, the Staten Island Electric Club and FusionTech Communications answered the call from the Tottenville Civic Association to string the lights on the neighborhood’s Christmas tree for the second consecutive year. On December 5 at the Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center in Yonkers, the Westchester Mechanics Association decorated the exterior of the building with lights.
Last but not least, the world-famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree was lit on Wednesday, November 30 with the work of Atlas Acon Electric. It will stay lit daily from 6:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m., all 24 hours on Christmas Day, and 6:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
Local 3 and Affiliated Clubs will continue volunteering and hosting events through the holiday season, so get in touch to get involved! See you in Electchester on the 18th!
