The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers recognizes July 10 as Lineworker Appreciation Day. This date marks the anniversary of the passing of the IBEW’s founding father and first president Henry Miller (1858-1896), who was a lineman for the Potomac Light & Power Company in Washington, D.C. at the time of his death. In the 125 years since, safety procedures, conditions, and equipment have greatly improved. Linework remains one of the most challenging yet critical jobs out there — maintaining the energy grid around the clock and answering to severe weather and other incidents.
Please join us in thanking Local 3’s and our sister locals’ members in the field of linework, and add your name to the petition to officially designate July 10 as National Lineworker Appreciation Day!
