On April 29, 2017, the Lewis Howard Latimer Progressive Association held its 59th annual Scholarship Dinner Dance. There were over 500 people in attendance, which included special guests Councilman Rory Lancman and past NYC Comptroller John Liu.
Business Representative Rick Rollins welcomed everyone to thank them for the continued support. Dance Chairman Donald Pryce started the program by thanking his committee and all attendees for coming out to the 59th Annual Scholarship Dinner Dance. Aniya M. Smith, daughter of Latimer 1st Vice President Will Smith and Marcell Weeks received scholarships that evening. Councilman Rory Lancman presented proclamations to the Man of the Year, Assistant Employment Director Joseph Hester and the Latimer Club honoree, Orrin Barfield.
Senior Assistant Business Manager Raymond Melville gave his regards from Business Manager Christopher Erikson congratulating Aniya and Maecell on their scholarships and wished them success in their future endeavors. Melville also acknowledged Assistant Employment Director Joseph Hester for all his accomplishments and for his continuous support on behalf of members of Local 3. Melville thanked Orrin Barfield for being an active member. The evening concluded with fellowship and a great evening of dancing.
