A Message from Business Manager Chris Erikson
December is here and 2024 is coming to a close. I hope you all had an enjoyable Thanksgiving with your families. Last week, the tree in Rockefeller Center was lit without a hitch, thanks to our members, and this week we are scheduled to light our very own tree in Electchester. We will be celebrating the holiday season and the New Year, and we pray that the work opportunity continues to improve in January. While the unemployment numbers have been going down, all indications are that we will continue the workshare plan in January, likely with 8-week furlough obligations. That number will be confirmed on Wednesday at the Joint Board meeting.
We will have a Wage and Policy meeting on December 16th where we will select the 'A' Negotiating Committee. They will be introduced at the General Membership meeting on January 9th. We will also be scheduling an open mic meeting in January in order for the membership to voice your concerns and thoughts regarding the upcoming contract. Your input is important and necessary.
For now, enjoy the holiday season and keep up the good work. Let’s not give the contractors any excuses to think that we are not the most productive and highly skilled electricians in the world. They need to know that we earn our pay every day. Productivity has always been the key to our success and theirs. God bless Local 3, brothers and sisters!
