Thank you to all the members of Local 3 who participated in a number of phonebanks and virtual events over the last several months, working toward electing candidates who support working people. Our member-to-member phonebank volunteers made over 10,000 calls to remind people about the elections, what was at stake, who was running in their district, who was the Local 3/Labor-endorsed candidate and the various ways to cast your vote in this extraordinary year.
Our members also participated in both IBEW and NYC Central Labor Council virtual phone banks to critical battleground states, such as Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Florida, to make sure our brothers and sisters got out the vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. As you can see from the slim margins in those states, all of it truly made a difference in the election results.
Locally, there were several wins for Local 3/Labor-endorsed candidates, with a number of races still outstanding due to unfinished counts of mail-in ballots. The Board of Elections in New York will begin counting absentee/mail-in ballots this week. Look out for a complete update in the next edition of the Union World.
