Fulfilling the long-lasting tradition of bringing light to the Electchester community, members of Local 3 were joined by the Joint Industry Board, our families and our neighbors, elected officials, and clergy for the annual Tree Lighting and Holiday Celebration in the Electchester First Housing Courtyard on Harry Van Arsdale Jr. Avenue. This year’s ceremony took place on the first night of Hanukkah, which was Sunday, December 18.

Business Manager Christopher Erikson, President Thomas J. Cleary, Treasurer Damon Armstrong, Political Director James Robson, and Financial Secretary Joseph Proscia were joined on stage by JIB Chairman Dr. Gerald Finkel, Rabbi Shlomo Nisanov, Pastor Gregory Sutterlin, NYPD 107th Precinct Commanding Officer and Deputy Inspector Kevin Chan, 109th Precinct Commanding Officer: Deputy Inspector Louron E. Hall, 107th Precinct Community Council President Carolann Foley, Representative Grace Meng, Queens DA Melinda Katz, Borough President Donovan Richards, Assemblyman Daniel Rosenthal and City Councilman James Gennaro.

The tree lights, menorah, kinara, Harry’s Rock, and lampposts in the Electchester neighborhood were decorated and wired by volunteers from the St. George Association, Apprentice Committee, Motorcycle Club, “A”, “J”, and Sign Divisions, and the Electchester Street Fair Committee. All labor and equipment were donated by Local 3 members and signatory contractors Comstock, E-J, Five Star, and Welsbach Electric.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this night possible once again! Happy holidays and a happy new year to you all!
