A Message from Business Manager Chris Erikson
Thank you to all who responded to our request to call their State Senators to support Senate Bill 7121A. It passed in the New York State Senate last week and now goes to Governor Kathy Hochul’s desk. One step closer to building Metropolitan Park, the proposed gaming, hospitality, parks, and entertainment mega project at Citi Field, expected to invest $8 billion into tons of work. Good job.
Early voting in New York City’s Primary Election starts Saturday, June 14th. There are an estimated 75,000 Building Trades families eligible to vote in the citywide Mayoral Election. Primaries tend to have lower voter turnout, and the winner of the Democratic Primary here usually wins the General Election. Andrew Cuomo, our endorsed candidate, has the experience to move our city forward. We have had many successes over the years and some disappointments. There would be no bigger disappointment than to pass on the opportunity to elect a candidate committed to the working middle class in our city, someone who will work hard to fix the problems all New Yorkers face and build this city with the union men and women of the New York City Building Trades Council. His record of building union speaks for itself. The extreme MAGA right and the extreme Democratic Socialist left have their own agendas that don’t include us. Vote for your and your families’ economic security. Every vote counts, so let’s get this done.
Remember, sisters and brothers, keep the Union strong.
