Business Representative Benny Arana along with Donald Brathwaite, shop steward and 1998 graduate of Alfred E. Smith trade school of the Bronx attended the graduation of the 2017 electrical class of the Bronx Design and Construction Academy. Local 3 has had a long history with the trade school going back more than 20 years and has been attending their graduation ceremonies.
The five graduates entering the Construction Skills Program are; Daniel Restituyo, Diego Piralta, Yordanny Jimenez and Hector Abreu. Mr. Scott Pagan (far right) is their instructor and their mentor. Scott stays involved with the graduates throughout and well after the program. Daniel, Wilfredo and Raphael had received awards for their outstanding performance in electrical shop and Klein tool sets were donated to them by EJ electric.
Once they complete the pre-apprenticeship training program they will be joining the ranks of our apprenticeship program. In addition, two other graduates from this class entered into the MTA electrical program.
