Due to the threat of COVID-19 infections, Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued an Executive Order that allows every New Yorker to vote by absentee ballot in the federal and state primaries to be held on Tuesday, June 23. The NYS Board of Elections will automatically mail applications to every registered voter in this election, but instead of waiting it is better to complete this process as soon as possible.
First, voters must submit an application for an absentee ballot to their county’s BOE and check “temporary illness or physical disability” among the reasons for voting absentee (English, Spanish). Then, voters will receive absentee ballots, which must be returned by mail, email, or fax by June 16.
Make sure you are registered to vote at your current address in the primaries as well as the general election in November!
