A Message from Business Manager Chris Erikson Jr.

Our Union held its Election of Officers last weekend, and I want to thank everyone who voted for participating in the process. The democratic process is a critical and a foundational value that we must always hold dear. The incumbent slate of officers was overwhelmingly re-elected to a new three-year term. I want to thank the membership for their support. I’m humbled by the privilege to be your Business Manager, and I look forward to continuing to represent the members with the strongest elected leadership by my side.

I want to thank our Election Judge Vinnie Cupola and the Election Board, along with all of the volunteers who spent over 12 hours on Election Day ensuring it was a smooth operation with no issues.

While we continue to face challenges in Local 3, the future looks bright. The work opportunity is strong both in New York City and Westchester County. Hours are up, but it will take time to get back to the pre-Covid levels in our Welfare Fund. We struggled through four hard years, but we have turned a corner. Our signatory contractors continue to win work and are going after non-union companies, either by signing them to Local 3 agreements or stripping their best talent to join our ranks. Everyone can play a part by talking up why every single person doing electrical work in our city should be represented by our Union.

Let’s take advantage of these good times now and recommit to the Union. Be informed and active members, volunteer to help however you can, pay attention to the upcoming political work, educate the next generation of members, and help grow Local 3 to be an even stronger Union in the future.
