At the General Membership meeting on October 9th, 2025, Business Manager Christopher Erikson announced his appointment of Robert Erikson to Business Representative in the Maintenance Department under Assistant Business Manager Lance Van Arsdale.
Robert was born in Electchester, Queens. He was raised in Massapequa, Long Island, and graduated from Chaminade High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from New York University as a double major in Journalism & Mass Communication and English & American Literature. Robert interned for the New York Daily News before joining the apprenticeship in September 2009, during which he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Labor Studies at SUNY Empire State College. He served on the Apprentice Advisory Committee and the 2013 Apprentice Negotiating Committee.
Robert received his “A” journeyman card in March 2015. He served on the 2019 “A” Contract Negotiating Committee. He is a member of the Wage and Policy Committee, the Editorial Board of the Electrical Union World newspaper, and Local 3’s Think Tank, which produced a 126-page research paper on the topic of income inequality in the United States. He also serves as a mentor in Local 3’s Mentorship Program.
Robert has worked on various projects throughout Local 3’s jurisdiction and as a Shop Steward under Business Representative Anthony Falleo on fiber and transit projects. Most recently, he had been working on the MTA’s OMNY MetroCard replacement project. In his first weeks on staff, he assisted Senior Assistant Business Manager Christopher Erikson Jr. negotiate a new agreement on behalf of Local 3 members working at the Javits Center.
Robert is a member of the Sportsmen’s Club. He was on the Board of Directors of the Allied Club of Queens and served as the Vice President of the Catholic Council of Electrical Workers as well as co-Chairman of Local 3’s 125th Anniversary Celebration in June 2025.
He is married to his wife, Kaylan, and has two sons, Owen and Dylan.
