Cooper Union’s historic Great Hall has a rich history of hosting labor unions and national leaders since its opening in 1858. On the night before May Day (a.k.a. International Workers’ Day), it will host a panel of New York City union representatives to explain the work they do and why they do it.
Panelists include Business Manager Christopher Erikson, Plumbers Local 1 Women's Committee President Nkosa Barrett, Civil Service Technical Guild Local 375 1st Vice President Harry Donas, Sheetmetal Workers Local 28 Executive Board member Thelma-Louise Fernandes, Chinese Staff and Workers' Association organizer Zishun Ning, and labor historian Joshua Freeman. The panel will be moderated by Claudia Irizarry Aponte, a senior reporter covering labor for The City.
Registration on EventBrite is required (and free), but an EventBrite ticket does not guarantee entry as this is a first-come-first-served free event.
