Starting this month into the first week of November, millions of Americans will cast their ballots by mail or at the polls to elect the next President, Vice President, and Congress. Now is the time to make a plan to vote and help elect labor-endorsed candidates up and down the ballot.

It is urgent that you verify your voter registration, especially if you have recently moved, changed your name, or missed any elections. You can use the AFL-CIO’s “Better In A Union” website to register to vote or check your registration status.

In New York, for example, the voter registration deadline and the start of early voting are on Saturday, October 26th. In case you are unavailable to vote in person, absentee ballots must be requested by October 26th in New York. Visit ibewgov.org for voter information and resources pertaining to each state (e.g., New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania).

Another way to help is by signing up for voluntary contributions to Local 3’s COPE, which supports the IBEW’s PAC to invest in pro-labor candidates across the country including “battleground districts” in New York City’s suburbs where many Local 3 members live. The hourly voluntary contribution amount recently increased to $0.05 per hour, so please sign up again even if you already have been contributing at the former rate.

Volunteers from Local 3 have been busy canvassing, phonebanking, and delivering lawn signs and campaign literature to voters throughout the federal and state districts in our union’s jurisdiction. Please use this form to sign up as a volunteer with Local 3 and our Affiliated Clubs, and keep paying attention to Rank & File emails, texts, social media, and other communications from Local 3 and Affiliated Clubs for important information and volunteer opportunities.
