On Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9, the Notre Dame Club of Staten Island held its long overdue 31st Annual “Bread of Life” Food Drive. Local 3 members and affiliated contractors participated in the food drive, helping to collect and distribute over 80,000 food items from approximately 140 schools from Staten Island and Brooklyn, to help those less fortunate. There were over 31 beneficiary organizations involved, such as Mount Loretto, Our Lady of Pompeii Church, and Saint Ann’s, along with numerous food banks from both boroughs that graciously benefitted from the tremendous generosity of others.
This annual event has grown to gain national media coverage and a reputation as a charitable “juggernaut.” The impressive effort this year was made possible by over 150 exemplary members of Local 3 from the ‘A,’ ‘M,’ ‘AT,’ ‘G,’ ‘J,’ Elevator, ET, ADM, and DBM divisions, as well as the ‘A’ Apprentice Advisory Committee, Con Edison of Staten Island, and the following signatory contractors: ADCO, Arcadia Electrical, E-J, Forest Electric, GMA, Hellman, Mulvihill, and Tru-Val. The Officers and members of the Staten Island Electrical Club and the Bedsole Kingsboro Club actively participated and coordinated with the organizers of the food drive. Thank you to everyone who lent a helping hand.
