A “stand-down” is a voluntary opportunity to stop, talk, and act on the job. Throughout the year, we can raise awareness of construction zone hazards, including but not limited to falls and traffic, and encourage the implementation of safety training, union-registered apprenticeship programs, and other preventive measures.
The 9th annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction will take place May 2-6. Additionally, the 3rd annual National Stand-Down to Prevent Struck-by Incidents is currently underway, April 11-15, in coordination with National Work Zone Awareness Week.
Please visit OSHA and CPWR (Center for Construction Research and Training) for more information and materials available to contractors and union members.
