Robert Massato Jr. was born in Brooklyn on June 29, 1967. Rob attended Our Lady of Grace Grammar School and Abraham Lincoln High School. He started working as an “A” apprentice in March 1988 and was initiated into Local 3 in May 1988. He completed his apprenticeship and earned his associate degree from the Harry Van Arsdale Jr. School of Labor Studies at SUNY Empire State College.

Rob worked as a journeyman, foreman, sub-foreman, layout-man, and as a shop steward in Brooklyn. He took many of the classes offered by the Educational and Cultural Trust Fund, including Lock-out/Tag-out, Lead Abatement, Confined Spaces, Citizenship, and OSHA 30. He was also an editor of the Mosaic Forward Journal published by Local 3 and the Joint Industry Board.

Rob was on the Labor Day Parade Committee and served as an inspector at union meetings and as a member of the 2016 “A” Contract Negotiating Committee and the Local 3 Election Board. He is also a member of the Christopher Columbus Festival Committee, the Staten Island Electrical Club, and the Bedsole Kingsboro Club. As a member of the Bedsole Kingsboro Club, Rob served many years as the chairman of the Ladies Night Dinner Dance, recording secretary, vice president, and club president for seven years.

In June 2019, Rob was elected by the Local 3 Executive Board to fulfill the unexpired term of Gordon Young.

Rob was appointed Business Representative for the Construction Division in Brooklyn in July 2021.

Rob is a third-generation member of Local 3, preceded by his grandfather, Louis, and his father, Bobby. His brother, Joseph, is also a member of the “A” Division. Robert is married to his wife, Sabrina, for 30 years, and they have a daughter, Gabriella.
