As a proud partner of H.E.A.R.T. 9/11, Local 3 invited its founder, Port Authority Lt. William (Bill) Keegan, to speak on behalf of his organization at the General Membership meeting on September 12th. In honor of the victims of 9/11 – 17 of whom were members of Local 3, and an additional 27 members who have since passed away from 9/11-related illnesses – the rank and file voted to donate $25,000 to support HEART 9/11’s ongoing volunteer services.
HEART 9/11 draws upon the skills and knowledge of the FDNY, NYPD, PAPD, and the Building Trades of New York City to rebuild homes and complete other emergency services in the immediate aftermath of natural and man-made disasters. Since its founding in 2007, HEART 9/11 has deployed over a thousand volunteers throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and other countries around the world.
