Steven Moy
Executive Board
Upon the  resignation of Richard McSpedon, Steven Moy has been elected to fill the  unexpired term on the Executive Board. Steven Moy was born in 1975 to Ann and  Lonway (Lenny) Moy. He has two siblings, twin brother Keith an “A”  journeyperson and sister KimLee a New York City police officer. 
  Steven is  a second generation “A” construction electrician. He began his career as a Local  3 apprentice in 1994. He graduated the apprenticeship in 1999 as well as  receiving an Associate Degree from the Harry Van Arsdale Jr. Center for Labor  Studies at Empire State College. 
  Through  the years he has taken numerous courses offered by the industry that included,  Exhibition Wiring, Lock-Out Tag-Out, OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour, confined space,  Fiber Splicing, High Voltage Theory and High Voltage Testing. Taking these  courses allowed him to work as a High Voltage Tester throughout the years and  become a foreman and a general foreman. 
  During  his time in the apprenticeship, Steven was active in the Apprentice Advisory  Committee and volunteered for various events and activities. In 1994, Steven  joined the Chinese American Cultural Society which was renamed the Asian  American Cultural Society. He was elected in 2004 the Corresponding Secretary  for the Asian American Cultural Society. In 2008 Steven was appointed the Vice  President for the Asian American Cultural Society to fill the unexpired term of  James T Chin and in 2009 Steven was elected the President of the Asian American  Cultural Society. In 2011 Steven was elected to Asian Pacific American Labor  Alliance (APALA) National Executive Board and re-elected in 2013 and 2015. In  2012 Steven was appointed President of the NYC Chapter of the Electrical  Workers Minority Caucus (EWMC). In 2013 Steven was appointed to serve on the  Local 3 Grievance Committee. In January of 2015 Steven was elected the  President of the NYC Chapter of APALA. The 2016 “A” Contract Negotiating  Committee elected Steven to serve as Chairperson of the committee. He also  attended the 39th IBEW International Convention as an Alternate Delegate in St.  Louis.
  Steven  has volunteered his time and knowledge to many clubs and programs to help assist  the progression of Local 3 and the labor movement. Steven is a bootcamp and  apprentice mentor, a High Voltage Testing teacher, a Lifetime Warrior member of  APALA, a member of EWMC, Sportsman’s Club and the Allied Club of Queens. He  bowled for the Local 3, IBEW bowling League and played softball for the  Sportsman’s Club. 
  Steven  currently resides in Valley Stream NY with his wife of 15 years Arlene and 3  children. His eldest daughter Alana is 14 years old, a SAG-AFTRA union member  and a Lifetime Warrior Member of APALA. The two younger children are Kaylee 9  and Kai 7 years old.
