With the NYC elections quickly approaching, it is pivotal that voters are registered at their current address, learn who the candidates are, and understand Ranked Choice Voting. The NAACP got out the word over the weekend, organizing car caravans in each borough. On Saturday morning, the caravan in Queens started in Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City and ended at Baisley Pond Park in South Jamaica. It was led by the NAACP Queens branches with the help of the Local 3 Young Workers Committee, the Latimer Progressive Association, and community organizations.
“Everyone needs to have fair knowledge and equal knowledge of the process — how to fully maximize your voting potential,” Kenny Cohen, Local 3 “A” journeyman and president of the NAACP Northeast Queens branch, told the New York Daily News.
