President Joe Biden has officially declared his re-election campaign and the IBEW is strongly endorsing the Biden-Harris ticket in the 2024 presidential election.
“When the IBEW endorsed candidate Joe Biden in 2019, it was because of his commitment to creating good union jobs, protecting secure retirements, addressing climate change responsibly and investing in American manufacturing,” IBEW International President Kenneth W. Cooper said in a press release. “President Joe Biden has delivered on all of these pledges: promises made and promises kept.”
International President Cooper cited the passage of pro-worker policies included in the American Recovery Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Butch Lewis Emergency Pension Relief Act, as well as pro-labor appointments to the NLRB, OSHA, and federal government agencies. The Biden-Harris administration has also demonstrated a serious commitment to union-registered apprenticeship programs, PLA’s, and American-made/union-made requirements when implementing economic policies.
In addition to the IBEW, the Biden-Harris ticket has already been endorsed by the international/national unions of SEIU, IATSE, Ironworkers (IW), NEA, and AFT.
