The Electrical Workers Minority Caucus (EWMC) officially consists of the Amber Light Society, the Asian American Cultural Society, the Latimer Progressive Association, and the Santiago Iglesias Educational Society. However, it takes many hands to make light work, so the EWMC in reality includes many members of Local 3 across all divisions and affiliated clubs. Together they participate in the EWMC’s International Day of Service every year, which took place most recently on Saturday, November 18th.
The EWMC of Local 3 NYC volunteered at St. Joan of Arc Church in the Bronx. Volunteers installed new circuits and conduit, upgraded existing fixtures, and replaced damaged wires and outlets. IBEW local unions and EWMC chapters across the U.S. and Canada performed similar electrical work pro bono to give back to their communities on this Day of Service.
