Hundreds of people of all ages got to enjoy the annual Night Out Against Crime on August 1st in Electchester, Queens with the NYPD’s 107th Precinct and the Community Council. Local 3 and affiliated club members prepared and served hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks. On the stage set up along Harry Van Arsdale Jr. Avenue, Vice President Louis Alvarez welcomed everyone on behalf of Local 3 and Chairman Humberto Restrepo spoke on behalf of the Joint Industry Board.
The annual event was co-sponsored by local establishments, restaurants, public services, elected officials, and law enforcement. NYPD Police Officer Timothy Gorman and Police Officer Kevin McCarthy were co-recipients of the Community Service Award for their service to the 107th Precinct and the surrounding community. Now in its 40th year, the National Night Out takes place on the first Tuesday of August across thousands of neighborhoods in all 50 states, with over 70 locations in New York City alone.
