In the latest issue of The Electrical Worker – the IBEW’s official monthly publication in print and online – the Local 3 Motorcycle Club (LU3MC) was featured along with sister locals who have organized motorcycle clubs and rides across the U.S. and Canada. As of today, there are over 50 motorcycle clubs affiliated with the IBEW representing local unions and entire regions. Their history unofficially stretches back decades, but officially, the IBEW’s motorcycle clubs originated with Local 3’s in 1995.
Today, LU3MC is considered the “mother local of IBEW riding groups” and counts more than 200 members, according to Local 3 retiree and the club’s Treasurer Stan Stade, who was interviewed for this article along with retired Business Representative and LU3MC Advisor Jim Bua.
“It’s a great melting pot, just like the IBEW,” Bua said.
