The construction boom continues in New York City and this growth is the result of direct actions taken by Governor Andrew Cuomo and the past economic actions of the Obama Administration. Unfortunately, our union still has to fight against jobs going non-union. These non-union contractors are trying to undercut us by providing lower wages and little to no benefits to their workers. As we reported at the July meeting, Local 3 workers will now be working on two jobs that were previously non-union. This was the result of the customers' choice: Amazon in Staten Island (splicing work) and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn (electrical work). Let your Business Representative or Shop Steward know if you see an opportunity to put your Brother or Sister Local 3 members to work.
