It didn’t take long, Trump and the rest of the Obama haters in and out of the government set in motion the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. As promised, the President and his conservative supporters will kill America’s best effort to provide affordable health care for more than 30 million Americans who were shut out, uninsurable because of a pre-existing condition or just not in a position financially to pay the high-cost premiums. Not to worry though, it’s gonna be great. We just don’t know who for.
Climate change is officially off the charts and the Environmental Protection Agency’s website as well, on day one. Oil and coal are back in play for the Koch brothers, with pipelines to boot. The coal miners dream come true until the forces of the free market leave them in the dust. America First, to bail on the Paris climate agreement and the dismantling of common sense protections put in place to protect the air we breathe and the water we drink. Just great, for the profits of the Koch brothers.
Make America Great, just not for Mexicans or Muslims. The haters are loving this, an immigration ban and a wall‰ÛÓwho could ask for anything more. Steve Bannon, that’s who, a guy that looks like he died and went to heaven.
Big business rules labor, education, health secretaries, but what about the little guys? Can’t we make America great too? The president has a free rein congress with a nuclear option to run the table and put in place a high-end kitchen cabinet, nothing but stainless steel and granite and billionaires, beautiful, its gonna be great as the regulations put in place to keep the bankers from burying America fall to the wayside.
Sounds like somebody bought a pig in a poke. The corporate agenda has never changed: less taxes more profits, less regulations more profits, more profits more jobs, trickle down bull. Women’s rights, civil rights, worker’s rights, voting rights, protections for the disabled, these are America’s values. Our Statue of Liberty welcomes the poor, the tired, the hungry and we protect the weak and those who are just different. Those are the values that have always made America great and always will.
Your party has put national right to work in play, Mr. President. How can that be good for American workers? We can’t live on Walmart wages. The American trade union movement made America great, organized labor created the great middle class and your Republican party is intent on destroying unions. How can that possibly make America great? America is not a business, Mr. President, America is so much more. Hopes and dreams for a better life, a greater share of the wealth that workers produce as it has risen disproportionately to those at the top. If you really want to be a great president, think, live and let live. It’s not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength. It really can’t be just about winning or America First, there must be compassion, tolerance and protections not just from terrorists but from those who would threaten the freedoms that Americans have fought and died for to protect.
