On Friday March 18, 2016 and Saturday March 19, 2016, the Notre Dame Club of Staten Island held its 25th Annual Bread of Life Food Drive. Local 3, IBEW members and affiliated contractors participated in the food drive helping to collect and distribute over 76,000 food items from over 138 schools from Staten Island and Brooklyn, to help those less fortunate. There were over 31 beneficiary organizations involved, such as Mount Loretta, Our Lady of Pompeii Church and Saint Ann’s along with numerous food banks from both boroughs that graciously benefitted from the tremendous generosity of others. This annual event has grown to gain national recognition for the charitable juggernaut of its reputation.
The impressive effort was made possible by over 175 exemplary members of Local 3 from the following divisions: The “A” & “G” construction divisions, the “J” division, The Elevator division, the Administrative division, the “A” Apprenticeship and also Con Edison of Staten Island. Benefactors also included the highly regarded signatory contractors to Local 3, IBEW: ADCO Electric, Allan Briteway Electric, Arcadia Electric, Five Star Electric, Forest Electric, Hatzel and Buehler Electric, Heckler Electric, Hellman Electric, Mulvihill Electric, Novel Elevator, Schlesinger-Siemens Electric, Walsh Electric and Welsbach Electric. The officers and members of the Staten Island Electrical Club along with the Bedsole Kingsboro Club of Local 3, IBEW actively participated in the coordination of this worthwhile event.
