Upon the announcement of Business Representative Ben Arana’s retirement at the General Membership meeting on July 11th, Raymond West Jr. was appointed to represent the members of the Construction Division in the Bronx. At the time of his appointment, Ray was the General Foreman of maintenance at Yankee Stadium.
Ray was born in the Bronx in 1976 to his parents, Raymond Sr. and Susan. A fourth-generation member of Local 3 dating back to his great grandfather, Ray was initiated in September 1994 and completed the ‘A’ Apprenticeship Program to receive his ‘A’ union card in November 1999. He became a Shop Steward in the Bronx in 2006 and at Yankee Stadium in 2009. He has served on the Wage & Policy Committee, the Laws and Resolution Committee, and the Election Board.
As a longtime member of the Bronx Acorn Club, Ray has served on the Club’s Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Scholarship Fund, Vice President, and President. He was also the chairman of Local 3’s New Year’s Eve party.
Ray currently lives in the Bronx with his wife, Cynthia, and son, Raymond.
