Joseph Santigate III is the Assistant Business Manager of the New York City Construction Division of Local 3.

Prior to being appointed to Assistant Business Manager in December of 2011 he was a Business Representative for the western part of Brooklyn and also the Borough of Staten Island, which he is currently responsible for along with the Utilities on Staten Island which includes Con Edison, National Grid, NRG Power Plant, Lewis Tree Service, and Homeserve.

Brother Santigate was initiated into Local 3 in October of 1984, he was a DBM Division Member.  Then he entered Local 3’s Apprentice Program and upon completion became an “A” Journeyman.

At the November 10, 2005, General Membership Meeting he was appointed a Business Representative.  Previous to that he was a Sub-foreman, Foreman, Shop-Steward and also an Assistant Super of J.F. Volpe Electric.

He is a former President of the Staten Island Electrical Club and is also a member of the
Kingsboro Bedsole Club, The Catholic Council of Electrical Workers, and the Christopher Columbus Society.

Brother Santigate has also served on the 2004 negotiating committee for the “A” contract, Chairmen of Inspectors for the General Membership meetings, Inspector at Local 3 Elections, Hardship Committee, and Wage and Policy Committee.

Santigate is a Delegate to the New York City Bldg. Trades and has also served as President of the Staten Island Board of Business Agents.

Santigate also is a Trustee of the Joint Industry Board where he is a trustee to many of the different plans.

Brother Santigate served as Alternate Delegate to the 38th International Convention in Vancouver in September of 2011.

Brother Santigate is also involved in his community, he is a member of Richmond County Democratic Committee and North Shore Dems.  He has also been involved with Community Athletic programs and the Notre Dame Club “Bread of Life Food Drive”.
