The Allied Union Club of Queens held its annual St. Patrick’s Day party on Sunday, March 5, celebrating the club’s 91st year and over 45 years of hosting the holiday event. The celebration was held in the JIB Auditorium, where hundreds of guests gathered to honor this year’s “Man of the Year,” Local 3 Business Representative William Hofving, and the Rank-and-File honoree, Christina Sullivan.
Among the attendees were over 30 honored guests of Local 3, including Business Manager Christopher Erikson, President Tom Cleary, Queens Business Representative James Bua, and family and friends of brother Hofving and sister Sullivan. Event Chairman Brian Gallery commenced the festivities, and the program began with Local 3’s Sword of Light Pipe Band. Allied Club President Tom McCann and Vice Presidents Tom Gallery and Tom Maguire also presented each honoree with their gifts on behalf of the club.
The celebration was complete with traditional Irish food prepared by head chef Terry Cleary, who directed a staff of over 40 volunteers, including the children of Allied Club members who did a wonderful job serving the hungry guests. This year’s entertainment was presented by Local 3 brother Vinny Trivigno (My Cousin Vinny Entertainment), who kept the dance floor moving with high-energy music hits. The program also featured Local 3 brother Kyle Viverito, who charmed the audience with his beautiful opera rendition of “Danny Boy.” The party could not be complete without the wonderful Irish step dancers from Donny Golden School of Irish Dance.
The Allied Union Club of Queens will be marching in the Bayside St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 25. The assembly point is at 35th Avenue and Bell Boulevard.
