Senate Republicans are proposing major changes under the Multiemployer Pension Recapitalization and Reform Plan. The IBEW has repeatedly defeated similar proposals, and the House of Representatives has already passed a more sensible and fair solution known as the Butch Lewis Act to save severely distressed plans. Now is the time for Local 3 to take a stand as the union with the nation’s first multiemployer pension plan since 1941 that remains in excellent financial shape and supports the retirement of over 1,000 electrical workers per year.
