On December 18, 2016, members of the 419 Spartan Social Club and their families paid their annual visit to St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in Bayside, New York, the largest and most experienced provider of long-term care to children with medically complex conditions and New York State’s only state-of-the-art post-acute care facility.
Leading the 419 Spartan Club members was President Angel Corchado who was thrilled with the tremendous turnout of volunteers willing to give of themselves for a most worthy cause. Smiles were brought to the faces of the children of the Special Healthcare Needs Ward as they received toys donated by members of the Spartan Club. Entertaining the children this year was Happy Henry the Wizard, who performed for the children and mesmerized everyone in attendance with his displays of magic.
In attendance and lending a hand were business representatives and 419 Spartan Social Club advisors Annette Diaz and Anthony Esponda. They gave thanks to the staff of St. Mary’s for welcoming us and giving us the opportunity to bring joy into the lives of these precious children.
This was the fifth year in a row that the 419 Spartan Club members have had the privilege of visiting St Mary’s Hospital for Children. Special thanks go to Business Representative Derek Jordan for volunteering his services as event photographer, this was also his fifth year in a row as the event photographer.
Also in attendance this year were Gil Medina, president of the Santiago Iglesias Educational Society, Lisa Belanger, material manager at Eaton Corporation and Wilson Chin, purchaser and planner at Eaton Corporation. Eaton Corporation is a Local 3 Light Fixture manufacturer located in Hicksville, New York.
